Afternoon at Cedar Creek Lake on a cool, drizzly August day, sure beats 100 degrees. Fished less than 3 hours. 3 limits of Sandies from a main lake point 13 to 16 feet. Left them biting, cooler was stuffed!
As we found out the other day, you can find fish stacked on sonar and throw everything in your box at them with limited success or you can troll over same spots and fill your cooler quickly. It’s also because of the technique of trolling. During hot summer months the Sandies don’t want lures presented to them in an up and down fashion but something that will come by them at one depth will work. Hellbender/pet spoon rigs or Jet Diver rigs (see video in website) will present lures in a way that will be next to impossible for fish to resist. Remember to fish shallow humps and points (12 to 16 feet) as thermocline will prevent fish from staging deeper than that.
