Cedar Creek lake is a tad over 3 ft low, having risen a foot and a half in the last 3 weeks. Fish are still on summer time patterns with water temps in low to mid 80’s.
Look for schooling Sandies and Hybrids early mornings and late evenings, no bird activity, look for jumping shad and or splashes nearby. We are using rattle traps and in line spinners to catch them. Lots of undersized Hybrids mixed in, so check fish carefully. Slab bite has not returned yet so until then we are trolling over midlake humps and points in water 10-12 feet. Limits are the norm with most being solid keepers in the 12-14 inch size range. Hell/pet rigs and variations of it being the most productive. In water 10-12 feet you don’t need to let out too much line, 35-40 feet behind boat is plenty.
Largemouth Bass good early and late on topwaters and weightless flukes around points and rip rap where there is some shade. There has been some sporadic schooling occurring mid mornings along the west shoreline.
Crappie have been consistent over submerged brush piles and around shaded bridge columns, 10-14 feet, being caught on 1/16 oz hugs in red/chartreuse and blue/white colors. Also small minnows with a 1/4 to 1/2 oz weight attached also working well.
Channel catfish good on stink bait in water 8-12 feet, blues being caught on cut shad drifted over points 10-18 feet. Good tip if you have your own dock and there is some water and shade under it – anytime you clean fish and toss remains in water, it’ll bring in the channel cats, fun for the children.
Bream being caught on small crickets and red worms around docks and rip rap. Redear sunfish tend to run deeper, can be caught in water 8-10 feet using same baits as mentioned above. Light line with a small weight works well.
