On cloudy mornings we look for schooling under the birds, using shad colored rattletraps or swim baits. If it’s windy position boat upwind of schooling activity and drift thru the schooling. Watch your fish closely, lots of undersized hybrids mixed in with the sandies.
If schooling is not occurring, we are fishing humps and points midlake 12-15 feet, small chrome slabs jigged vertically and also by casting and letting it fall then work it like a plastic worm.
We are also catching a lot of fish by trolling the hell/pet combo rigs over and around same spots. Watch sonar closely don’t lend fish are stacked on the humps but other times they will suspend off the side of the hump. Trolling is very effective this way.
Channel catfish very active around fish cleaning stations, since they are scavengers they will eat most anything especially when fish are being cleaned and blood and guts are in the water. Crappie holding near shaded bridge columns, being caught on small minnows and Bobby garland jigs in many color patterns.
Big bluegills and sunfish being caught on beds in 4-8 feet on grey crickets.
